Internship

During the 3rd year of my bachelor’s I was an product design intern at Wortel, a small design company located in Utrecht. During my stay there, I have been involved with various projects. Among others my activities included:

  • Designing custom furniture for public spaces such as libraries and schools. Throughout the months that I was an intern this was my main activity. I have designed dozens of different pieces of furniture including chairs, closets, commodes and coat racks among others. Sometimes renders were made, but most of the time I had to compile a bill of materials and technical drawings so the furniture could be assembled with ease.
  • Designing and prototyping a collapsible rain shield for an electrical vehicle called the Stint.
  • Designing a panel to promote sea urchins in their ecosystems, in which they play a vital role. This design was made for Van Hall Larenstein for a research proposal.
  • Designing a wooden toy set for an graphic designer, including the packaging and manufacturing processes.
